“Good Time Girl!” was written by Christina Phillips in the Summer of 2025 based on personal experiences. She pitched the script to her friend, Chris Shields, with a first draft and he immediately fell in love. The two workshopped the script for the coming months until settling on a version that felt respectful and doable without pulling any of the important punches.
“Good Time Girl!” exists by and for survivors of SA as a means of expression and empathy. It’s a brutally honest look at what life can be like for these survivors. Doing this story justice while being respectful to the actors and crew involved was a tightrope walk from the beginning, but the crew banded together to do the best they could at shedding light on an important topic that isn’t covered enough in the media.
“Good Time Girl!” was shot between Missoula and Polson, Montana on a shoestring budget. The film was produced, directed by, and shot by Shields and it marks Shields’ second collaboration with Phillips as a writer and member of the art department.
Shields’ stylistic goal with this movie was to subvert expectations. Everything about the film from the name, to the soundtrack, and to the visuals, sets the film up to be a fun time, just like the main character thought it would be. It takes a turn to the surprise of Bridget in the film as well as the audience watching.
